About Website Status Checker

Website Status Checker is a high-performance web utility built to check if any website is up or down in real time. Measure server response time and verify online status directly from your browser — no apps or extensions needed instantly and securely. Because it is designed with a local-first architecture, all processing occurs directly in your browser's memory using client-side JavaScript. This ensures that your files, code, or private text inputs are never uploaded to any external server or tracked by third-party analytics.

Whether you are formatting source code, cleaning text files, converting file structures, or running diagnostics, running these processes locally in your browser memory sandbox eliminates network latency and protects your data privacy.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why does the checker show OFFLINE OR BLOCKED for a site I know is online?

Most websites configure their servers to block browser-originated cross-origin requests (CORS policy) as a security measure. A blocked result means the server actively rejected the browser's request — which ironically proves the site is online and responding. Only a complete connection failure (network timeout or DNS resolution error) indicates the site is genuinely down.

What is response time and what is a good value?

Response time is how long it took your browser to receive the first byte of response from the server, measured in milliseconds (ms). Under 200ms is excellent. 200–500ms is acceptable for most use cases. Over 1000ms (1 second) indicates potential server issues, hosting problems, or high network latency. Note that your local internet speed also affects the measured value.

Can this tool tell me if a site is down for everyone or just me?

This tool checks the site's reachability from your current network location and browser. If the check shows ONLINE, the site is reachable from your network. If it shows OFFLINE OR BLOCKED, it could mean the site is genuinely down, your network is blocking it, or the site blocks browser requests. To verify if it's down for everyone, try from a different network or use a server-based uptime checker.

Is any data sent to your servers when I check a site?

No. The website check is performed entirely from your browser using the Fetch API. Your browser connects directly to the target site. Online Text Tools does not proxy, log, or intercept these requests in any way.
